A citation must support a claim
A link alone is not enough. It may point to the right company but a different period or an unrelated fact. Start with the statement that matters most to your reading and locate the supporting passage in the original source.
Check five things
Use this sequence when reviewing financial figures or news summaries.
- Identity: does the document refer to the correct company and security?
- Period: the publication date differs from the accounting period. Check both.
- Units: dollars or reais, thousands or millions, percent or percentage points?
- Definition: net income, adjusted earnings and cash flow are different measures.
- Context: did the summary omit qualifications, revisions or conditions?
Give each source its proper role
Official filings and announcements record what a company disclosed. News adds a publisher’s reporting and context. Market data may have delays or different coverage. An AI interpretation connects evidence; clear writing does not make it an official source.
When evidence is missing
Ask for the exact document and relevant passage. If it is unavailable, keep the point unverified. Do not fill a gap with an estimate presented as a fact. When reporting an error in Compound, identify the page and statement without sending credentials or private portfolio data.
